Former Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank Plc, Mr. Alex Otti, Wednesday made good his intention to become the next governor of Abia State as he opened his campaign office in Umuahia and made his formal declaration at Aba, the commercial city.
It was a dazzling event at the two venues as the governorship aspirant brought stars in the sports and entertainment sectors to give testimonials to his plans of a bright future for Abia.
The galaxy of stars included ex-internationals Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, and his brother, Ogbonna.
There was the maverick Charley Boy and his wife, Lady Di, as well as two popular Abia born musicians, Nigga Raw and J Martins.
Otti said he sacrificed his topmost job at Diamond Bank for the sake of Abia, adding that he resigned last week with six years and half years of his tenure to spare.
“It’s a sacrifice for Abia because I believe we can’t make omelette without breaking an egg,” he said, adding that his resignation was his own way of breaking an egg to make omelette for the good of ‘God’s Own State.’
Otti explained that he had to make consultations before taking the decision to quit his job to vie for the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He said he was happy on the outcome of his consultations hence the encouragement to take the plunge in the governorship race.
He informed his supporters that he had already picked his nomination and expression of interest forms paid for by two Abians, who chose to remain anonymous.
He promised high level of increased entrepreneurship and quality governance in Abia if his aspiration of becoming the state governor becomes a reality next year.
