Foremost Delta State Politician and philanthropist, Hon (Prince) Ned Nwoko has revealed the circumstances that led to the death of a University of Benin student who alongside his colleagues had gone on an excursion to his massive country home in Idimuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government of the state.
Some online journals had published some misleading reports that the student died after he dived into the swimming pool of the house and hit his head on the floor of the pool.
But putting the record straight, Hon Nwoko stated in a statement made available to us that “I understand he was among over 50 students from University of Benin that went for excursion to my house which is an officially listed monument by the Delta State Government.
”At about 5pm, there was a heavy downpour, and all the students decided to jump into the pool at the same time. The deceased was trampled upon and when they realised this, my pool attendant and others took him out and tried to resuscitate him
”Thereafter, they rushed him to the nearest health centre where they claimed not to have oxygen to revive him
”He did not die in the pool by the account of my pool attendant and others present, including his colleagues from his University”
