The governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Al-Makura has been revealed to be deliberately dodging
from getting his impeachment notice from the State House of Assembly.
The Clerk of the House Mr Ego Maikeffi, on Tuesday stated this when he told the press that several attempts by him to get to the governor has been unsuccessful as he was denied entry into the government house by the security personnels at the gate.
He noted that the governor would be served the notice through newspapers on Wednesday as the two days given by the lawmakers had elapsed.
The Commissioner for Information, Hamza Elayo stated that the government is yet to get any notice and until it is officially done; they cannot react.
“I’m raising a motion under the matter of public interest. The document I have in my hand is a notice of impeachment of Gov.Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State for gross misconduct and for the violation of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
“Today being the 14th July, 2014, 20 members of the 24 members of this house unanimously endorsed to serve Gov.Tanko Al-Makura notice of impeachment” and with this statement by the Deputy Majority Leaders, Mr Yahaya Usman and seconded by Mohammed Okpede; the motion for the governor impeachment was moved on Monday on the floor with document presented by him showing 20 out of 24 members signing it.
