Despite Governor Kayode Fayemi’s acceptance of defeat in the June 21 Ekiti gubernatorial poll, TheCable understands that the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is pushing for Ayo Fayose’s victory to be challenged in court.
Fayemi lost the election to Fayose, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by a wide margin and promptly made a concession speech ─ considered rare for a Nigerian politician.
The election was generally seen to be free and fair ─ although not without complaints about the militarisation of the state.
However, a state government official has said “there was something fishy about the ballot paper and the ink that needs to be challenged in court”.
“We are currently gathering evidence. We have received several complaints from people about the hi-tech rigging that was perpetrated. Even though the governor has accepted defeat, that does not stop us from challenging Fayose’s victory in court if we are able to gather enough evidence to prove our case,” he said.
The official said the ballot papers were designed in a way that made the thumbprints to disappear “within minutes” while “pre-programmed” votes would later appear.
“In other words, all the votes that were announced by INEC were pre-programmed. That means the thumb-printing process was irrelevant. The votes were pre-allocated on the ballot papers through hi-tech manipulation,” he said, using the term “photochromic” to describe the technology allegedly used to produce the ballot papers.
Photochromism, in simple language, allows for transformation of chemical spices between two forms ─ meaning what you see can change to another form in seconds.
It is a technology commonly used for eyeglasses. They could be plain in one moment and dark the next after absorbing electromagnetic radiation.
The official did not explain how this technology can be used to alter voting on a ballot paper but said: “A clear example of this manipulation is at former governor Segun Oni’s polling unit in Ifaki. Oni, an APC member, went there with 11 members of his family, including his wife. APC got only one vote there, while Fayose got 51.”
The official, who refused to be named because a final position has not yet been taken, said Oni’s wife had to ask her husband: “Darling, didn’t you vote for APC?”
#EkitiDecides2014 hmmm. I will rather use the ash tag, #EkitiIndicts2014.
My worries are, why do we praise wrong doers, is it sentiment or the love for an individual or a political party, but these should not over shadow the love for all. If truly Fayose won the election, then the people of Ekiti do not know what development is. Governor Fayemi had passion and dreams for the people of Ekiti, he modernized the state, had good intension to turn around his people and to bring Ekiti to the top of the ladder like Lagos. I’ve been to most places, towns, cities, villages etc. in Ekiti during Fayose’s first four years as a governor, to make a comparison, it is like choosing Hell before Paradise to what Fayemi did in the four years. I will personally salute his work and achievement. It’s sad that good work or performance couldn’t return him back to that sit. What precedence, that good intensions and work don’t win election in Nigeria. They should bear it in mind that it is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything. Just like what Abraham Lincoln said “No man is good enough to govern another man without the other’s consent”. PDP has shown that they don’t need people’s consent to govern them. To my surprise some praised the election exercise as free, fair and credible election. “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
It’s very disheartning to write this because i don’t fancy politics but i know that the darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis. Just like what the great philosopher Plato said “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.” Just because i do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in me. PDP just proved that Politics have no relation to morals. Look at the number of forces deployed to Ekiti to intimidate the opposition and learned follows said it was a “strategy”. What a strategy to keep peace or to create “FEAR”. You and i know what fear can create, i will give an example of such, let’s look at what happened in Ikeja cantonment bomb blast, no much lives lost in Maryland and it environ where the incident occurred compared to lives lost in Isolo Oke Afa. You can’t ask me to come out and vote in such situation especially when all APC members to give confidence or to cite examples have all been picked up prior to the election. Mind you, “Only fools mistake politicians for messiahs.” I think the Ekiti people mistook Fayemi personality to be too fast, too expose and his people couldn’t find the connection while Fayose could connect with his people. The different here is, Fayemi is best described as manager of resources while Fayose is a manager of people. My dear people, if a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.” Another area to look at is attribute attached to these people, that there is no home in Ekiti without a professor, should we now say these educated fellows couldn’t spot the differences or most of these people do not live in their home towns.
Ekiti people should remember PDP just proved these, that giving money and power to politician is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. They should also remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want before election is also big enough to take away everything you have. Government is not reason. Government is not eloquence. It is force. And, like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. I weep for the liberty of my country when I see at this early day of its successful experiment that corruption has been imputed to many members, and the rights of the people have been bartered for promises of office. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. We need not be told what PDP proved last fifteen years of democracy, they have said it loud and clear to us that NO you can’t have it while some other crazy fellows e.g APC said Yes you can have the dividends of democracy. I am very sure if you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there’d be a shortage of sand. Nigeria is a nation that have seen to have done everything that’s worth doing wrong, no index of absurdity in which we are not ranked highest, we hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office. A healthy democracy requires a decent society, it requires that we are honorable, generous, tolerant and respectful. But Fayose and his cohorts do not have these. The secret of getting things done is to act! Ekiti people should act if you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards. They both have governed the state for four years, appraisal should have been the best techniques to determine who to vote for this last Saturday.
My conclusion is PDP has used single acts of tyranny (Money & Power) to win Ekiti, which may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of a day in the court of law. It is well enough that people of the state do not understand their banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution in Ekiti before tomorrow morning. History records that the money changers have used every form of abuse, intrigue, deceit, and violent means possible to maintain their control over governments by controlling power, money and its issuance. A power has risen up in the government greater than the people themselves, consisting of many and various powerful interests, combined in one mass, and held together by the cohesive power of the vast surplus. I am not saying APC or other parties are saints, they could crazy though but they are working. Put all achievements in federal and states of the PDP together since 15years ago, just last 4years in Lagos alone can speak better. Please challenge me on this if you have numerical figures. The best Governor PDP ever had and but not value was Donald Duke. To me PDP is a diplomat with power and money, who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you actually look forward to the trip. When bad men combine, the good must associate, else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle. I don’t make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts. Facts that some sycophants do not allow to supersede their opinion or love for an individual.
Ekiti will forever miss a fellow that’s best described in globalization while they enjoy their new gluttonies in power
Long live Ekiti, Long Live Nigeria

You Said you are not a politician how do you know what is going on among them,my Mum is a living witness to what your so called Fayemi did to his so called loved people. As far as am concerned he his a fine bully who bully the poor and innocent people and make them suffer claiming he did this and that whereas it’s all a lie. Do you know the reason why there’s a lot of armed men on the election day in Ekiti state,I suggest you go and make your findings before you start judging Fayose ok,his our elect governor now and there’s absolutely nothing anyone of you can do about it capish.
