In a bid to delight Nigerians and enable them connect and follow activities at the on-going Brazil 2014, Airtel Nigeria, has announced a partnership with Optima Sports Management International (OSMI) that will ensure the broadcast of on-field and off-field activities on Nigerian Television stations during the month-long global soccer fiesta.
With the partnership, Airtel Nigeria becomes the official telecommunication partner of OSMI for the broadcast of the world cup on its partner terrestrial stations across the 36 states of the nation including the Federal Capital Territory.
This partnership is coming barely a week after the telecommunications operator unveiled the season four of the annual Airtel Rising Stars Football tournament for boys and girls under 17 years of age.
The Brazil 2014 will feature a total of 64 Live Matches, 25 Highlight Programs and Road To Brazil to be presented by a select team of sports analysts comprising renowned sports commentators and ex-internationals.
Commenting on the partnership, Chief Commercial Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Maurice Newa, said the company is committed to providing platforms that will bring excitement, fun and joy to Nigerians.
“Nigerians are passionate about football. We are aware that everybody cannot be in Brazil, but we can bring Brazil to their living rooms and that’s exactly why we are partnering with OSMI,” he said.
The Airtel Executive also disclosed that in keeping with its commitment of rewarding its business partners and customers, Airtel will be rewarding select customers and business partners with an all expense paid trip to Brazil.
Brazil 2014 kicked off on Thursday, June 12, with an opening fixture between host nation Brazil and Croatia in Sao Paulo and will be followed by other group stage matches in subsequent days and weeks. It will be rounded off on July 13 with a final match to be played inside the historic Maracana Stadium.
