Obasanjo’s PDP Faction Denies Defecting to APC

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State Monday denied defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying there was no directive from the former president to decamp to APC.

The former Chairman of the party, Chief Joju Fadairo, who debunked the rumour at a press conference held in Abeokuta yesterday, said it was time to tackle the misconception that all PDP had gone to APC.

According to him, “there is no directive from the former president to decamp to  the APC. We have not gone to APC, baba didn’t say we should go to APC, baba is in PDP,” he said.

Fadairo, who confirmed that there was crisis in the party in the state, said they were putting the house in order.

He disclosed that members of the party had resolved that they would all remain in PDP and work together to ensure the success of the party come 2015. He noted that they would all remain in PDP with the aim of working for the unity and success of 2015, adding “PDP is an invisible entity and we would ensure that all factions of the party in the state are fused together for strength.”
However, chieftain of the party, Chief Okanlawo Soboyede, who also spoke at the event, said the Bayo Dayo-led faction of the PDP was a one-man show, noting that the party was a mixture of many people.

According to him, “the fact is that there is crisis in the party in Ogun State, you all know about it, we are saying that we have kept quiet for the sake of the party and the interest of the party for so long and we think is time for us to speak out”

Also, former governorship aspirant of the party in 2011 election, Chief Jide Awosedo said the reason for the meeting was to resolve all the faction in the party.
