Chairman of the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, Hon. Adebayo Morakinyo has resigned his appointment with immediate effect.
Morakinyo, a former Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly resigned today, and returned his official car immediately.
His resignation might be the beginning of resignations to hit Governor Kayode Fayemi’s government in the next few days.
The resignation letter dated April 1, 2014 and addressed to Governor Kayode Fayemi read; “I write to appreciate you for the honour done me by my appoitment as chairman of Ekiti State Waste Management Authority in 2011.
“Having served the State in that capacity for almost three years , I wish to resign my appointment from today 1st April 2014 to enable me concentrate on my business.
“By this, I am returning through the office of the SSG the monetised vehicle given to my office and the official ID card.”
However, beyond the reason given in the resignation letter, sources disclosed that Hon Morakinyo left Fayemi’s government because he was relegated to nothing in the government.
A source said; ” Even Morakinyo’s hotel is being owed several millions of naira by the government and all efforts to get the money paid did not yield any positive result.”
Another source, who said Morakinyo might be heading to the Labour Party (LP) said the former lawmaker is not trusted by Fayemi and his men.
“They don’t trust him because of the way he betrayed former Governor, Segun Oni and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“He was in the PDP and worked against the party and Fayemi’s men believe that he can’t be trusted. That’s why they just gave him the appointment and rendered him redundant, ” the source said
