While the release of Chief Inengite Nitabal, the cousin of President Goodluck Jonathan is being discussed in and around Otuoke community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Street Journal has gathered that a kidnap attempt on yet another cousin of the President was foiled on Wednesday night by the Joint Task Force, Operation Pulo Shield.
Findings revealed that the timely intervention of men of the Task Force prevented the abduction of Madam Patience Agbani, who is said to be related to President Jonathan’s mother.
As she was returning from her business around 11 pm on Wednesday, she realised she was being trailed by a group of young men numbering about six.
Having sighted them from a distance, she reportedly took off and ran while the suspected kidnappers pursued her.
Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, the JTF spokesman who confirmed the incident stated that Agbani ran into an uncompleted building and called an operative of JTF in the area.
“We foiled the kidnap attempt on the woman at Akimpli at about 11pm. She was returning from her business at about 11:30 pm. But she was being trailed by a group of men numbering about six.
They gave her a hot chase but good enough she had the number of one of our men deployed at SETRACO in Ogbia. Our patrol team responded swiftly and they were able to prevent the kidnap,” Nwachukwu said.
He also said “we were able to foil the attempt from the would-be victim because of the quality of information we got. People should assist JTF with useful information.”
