The Peoples Democratic Party has started the screening of its 16 aspirants vying to be the party’s governorship candidate in the June 21 Ekiti State Governorship Election.
The Screening Committee, led by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, conducted screening exercise, which took place at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on Saturday.
It was gathered that the number of the aspirants was reduced from 17 to 16 because one of the aspirants could not meet the Thursday’s deadline for the submission of her nomination form.
The aspirant was said to have brought her form to the Ndoma-Egba committee but was turned back as the committee claimed that it was only mandated to screen only 16 aspirants.
The plea by the aspirants that she was unable to meet the deadline due to fuel scarcity was refused.
