Sanusi should answer charges against him —Odumakin

Spokesman of pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, has called on suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) boss, Malam Lamido Sanusi Lamido, to clear his names over the various allegations leveled against him by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN).

Odumakin made the call on Saturday  in Lagos while speaking with newsmen. He described some of the allegations as scandalous, just as he said he could not see Sanusi as a whistle-blower, but as somebody who wanted to hold to any straw to save his life.

The activist, who insisted that the suspension of Sanusi by President Goodluck Jonathan was in order, noted that nobody could have argued against such suspension had the president come out earlier with the explanations he offered on a live broadcast a few days ago.

Odumakin said all the allegations raised in the FRCN reports needed to be fully investigated, even if it was a dollar that was missing.

He cautioned Nigerians to be wary of people who were out to play games, insisting also that allegation of missing money must be investigated if Sanusi said so, and that the culprits should be brought to book.

“Giving the gravity of the allegations against Sanusi in terms of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria report to Jonathan, I think that with what the government has claimed, Sanusi, as chairman of the CBN board that has to investigate those allegations, cannot preside over his own matter,” he added.
