The Speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Mr Aminu Tambuwal, says there is nothing wrong with the recent wave of party members’ defection to other parties.
In the last two months, over 42 lawmakers in Nigeria’s National Assembly – the Senate and the House of Representatives – defected to various parties.
A large number of the defected lawmakers joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection started in November 2013, with five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors defecting to the APC.
Sign Of Good Things
Mr Tambuwal’s comment is coming just as a former Nigerian vice president, Atiku Abubakar, defected to the APC on Sunday.
At a Poverty Alleviation Programme organised in Lagos State, Mr Tambuwal said he would make his political ambition known in due time.
“I believe that political leaders are beginning to realign themselves ahead of 2015. It is a sign of good things to come.
“The politicians are not only defecting to the APC, there are some that have defected to the PDP also and it is a kind of a-two-way traffic.
“When the time comes, I will make my constituency know what my intentions are concerning 2015, if at all I am going to run for election.
