Ekiti shuts down school over student’s kidnap

The Ekiti State Government has announced the closure of Government Science College, Iyin Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State following the abduction of a 14-year-old student of the school.

The state Commissioner for Education, Mr. Kehinde Ojo, who spoke on the closure of the school on Wednesday, said the decision was taken to douse the tension generated by the incident.

Ojo, in a telephone interview, described the abduction as most unfortunate, saying, “this is not the first time such an incident is happening in the school.

“The abduction of a female student of the school on Tuesday made it the third time in six months that the evil elements operated in the school”.
