4626 (MY DEAR FRIENDS) LET’S SAVE LOLADE!

Out of the blues, on Monday, January 19, 2014, I received a call from someone I did not know and hadn’t met, crying and begging me for help.

She told me she’s been diagnosed with CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE and is currently undergoing dialysis twice weekly. My initial reaction was to ask her how she got my number, but I immediately put myself in her shoes and it dawned on me that such a question would drain my last hopes, if I were her…. So, I asked for her name and location and what she wanted. And these are her details:

Name: Ololade Aina
Date of Birth: 5th September, 1985
State of origin: Abeokuta
LGA: Abeokuta North
Position in the family: 3rd out of 4.

She desperately needs N8, 100,000 to enable her seek medical attention in India and I’m determined to raise the money for her, by the grace of God! According to her God asked her to contact me. I don’t care whether it is true or false that God said so, but I would be happy to do this, even if as atonement for my many sins and obvious human imperfections and as appreciation for God’s extravagant love for me.

I have been to her Mushin (a densely populated low-income suburb of Lagos) home to see her and her Mom and siblings. It is indeed a pathetic situation. She urgently and desperately needs help, for the bi-weekly dialysis sessions and for big one, the kidney transplant in India.

I beg you all my friends in the name of almighty God to join me to save this young woman, who we can never tell what she will turn out to be in future. She could be our sister, our daughter, our friend, our relative or even wife and mother. She could in future be the mother of a future leader of this great country, Nigeria.

If my mathematics serves me right, if all my 4626 friends on Facebook contribute the same amount, each person will give approximately N1751. However, knowing that all fingers are not equal, I plead with you to give whatever pleases you, from N1000 to the entire N8.1m. The moment we hit the final figure, the campaign will move to appreciations. Donations can be sent to this dedicated account number GTB 0004258886 (205/133092/1590 OLAWUNMI BELLO). And, just in case you want to verify, you may wish to contact her mother Mrs. Aina on 08027120175 or her Auntie Olawunmi Bello on 08027714488.

It’s time to make your friendship count. Let’s save a life. Let’s do it for God. Let’s show some love.

God bless you as you do this. May such a great health affliction NEVER visit you or your family in the name of God, Amen!
