Access Bank, one of the new generational banks in Nigeria, organised a one day conference tagged “embracing sustainable leadership”
The event which took place on 12th of December 2013 in Eko Hotel, had a roll call of important personale who served as speakers for the event, among such people was the retired manager of Manchester city, Alex Ferguson, but Mr. Ferguson refused to show up for the event. The reason for this disappointment is yet to be made public.
The baffling point on this issue is that up till now, Access Bank has not removed the picture of this man who stood them up from the event website as one of the speakers.
Guys, this post does make any sense. Speakers are invited to programmes and may not turn up for some reasons, and such explanations are not owed to the public. But when uninformed media practioners, hiding under the liberty granted by the feature of social media begin to celebrate vanity with the intent of embarassing instutions, or seek their attention for patronage.
Seriously, there is a growing demonstration of recklessness in the social media pace in Nigeria and this is a reflection of the abuse that may likely greet the FOI bill if eventually passed by the numerous quacks parading themselves as media practitioners. Blackmail and exhtortion are now the new names of the dominating practice in the Nigerian social media space when in other climes the investion is helping them break new grounds and promoting social good.
I am afraid!
Ferguson didnt attend because he doesnt like Africa or Africans.
