EFCC Arrests Oil Subsidy Fraud Suspect Seun Ogunbambo In Court Premises

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday in Lagos arrested a fuel subsidy fraud suspect, Seun Ogunbambo, who was recently declared wanted by the commission after failing to appear for his trial.

He was picked up at the premises of a Lagos High Court in Igbosere where he was to appear before Justice Olabisi Akinlade in another matter relating a N1.2billion bank loan fraud.

During an argument between Ogunbambo and the EFCC at the court premises in Lagos yesterday, Mr. Ogunbambo allegedly presented warrants he obtained to maintain the status quo until the next trial date before Justice Onigbanjo, but the EFCC operatives declined to honour them.

Lawyer to the EFCC, Mr. Francis Usani, had earlier said it was of no concern to the commission that the suspect later obtained another order in its absence.

“He said, we have a court warrant to pick them up and it is not possible for the judge to reverse same in our absence. We have no knowledge of that,”.

With this development, Ogunbambo may be kept at the Commission’s detention until next Monday, September 16, when his case will normally resume before Justice Onigbanjo, with special focus on the controversial warrant
