The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr.Reuben Abati, has denied that a private meeting took place today
(Sunday) between President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the crisis that has rocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which culminated in the emergence of a splinter group on Saturday.
In a clarification made available to THISDAY, the president’s spokesman said Obasanjo had come to the Presidential Villa, Abuja,
with the president of Benin Republic, Mr. Thomas Yayi Boni, and both men had joined Jonathan at the church service this morning.
He said it was Yayi, who had come to see the president and had a private audience with him, following which Obasanjo and Beninese
president left the villa.
Abati was very emphatic that no meeting took place between Jonathan and Obasanjo on the PDP crisis.
