ABIA POLICE COMMAND DISMISSES THREE OFFICERS FOR KIDNAPPING AND EXTORTION

The Abia State Police Command has dismissed three officers for their involvement in a criminal conspiracy that included kidnapping and extortion. The dismissed officers—Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi (Force No. 501356), Corporal James Daniel (Force No. 511844), and Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka (Force No. 511853)—were found guilty of abducting innocent citizens and extorting money from them.

The officers, in collaboration with two civilian accomplices, hired a minibus and carried out an abduction along the Port Harcourt Expressway on January 29, 2025. Armed with an electric baton, an assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol, they intimidated their victims, forced them to part with large sums of money, and further demanded ransom from their families before releasing them.

Their criminal activities were uncovered when they were apprehended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abayi. Following a thorough investigation and an Orderly Room Trial, the officers were found guilty and subsequently dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force. Their police equipment has been retrieved, and they have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution, alongside their civilian accomplices.

Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, reassures the public that the Abia State Police Command remains committed to upholding discipline, integrity, and public trust. He urges residents to continue cooperating with the police in the fight against crime and to report any unethical behavior within the force.
