Ogun State Youth Athletes Shine at 8th Nigeria Youth Games, Eyes Set on Gateway Games 2024

The Ogun State team competing at the ongoing 8th Nigeria Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, has been praised for its dedication, talent, and resilience. Led by a group of dynamic young athletes, the team has gained widespread recognition for upholding the standard of excellence Ogun State is known for.

In a statement issued by the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots development, with a particular focus on engaging and empowering youth through sports. “Our government remains dedicated to providing our youth with opportunities to succeed, while fostering a culture of sportsmanship and leadership,” Hon. Isiaka stated.

Looking ahead, the state is preparing to host the highly anticipated National Sports Festival, branded as Gateway Games Ogun 2024, scheduled to take place in January 2025. Hon. Wasiu Isiaka expressed confidence that the event would be both hitch-free and memorable, further solidifying Ogun State’s reputation as a hub for sports and youth development.

As the Ogun State team continues to shine at the Youth Games in Asaba, the Commissioner urged citizens to rally behind them, emphasizing the importance of unity and support in helping young athletes reach their full potential.

“Omo Ogun, Iseya!” the statement concluded, calling for collective support as the state’s athletes showcase their skills on the national stage.
