Ogun State Governance in Question: Adebutu’s Critique Provokes Abiodun

Our attention has been drawn to the shameful and reckless statements made by Prince Dapo Abiodun on Sunday in response to a charge by Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu on the need for his All Progressives Congress, APC government to be humane and to focus on providing people-oriented projects.

It is pathetic that rather for Mr. Abiodun to learn and be guided by the sincere comments made by Hon. Adebutu, he lost control, went personal, and talked gibberish which simply confirms he has diminished acumen to continue to manage the affairs of Ogun State.

It is very sad that the real issue raised on the basis of comparison between the road commissioned by the PDP Governor in Oyo State and any of the 600km acclaimed roads commissioned in Ogun State. The main issue is why should a governor be celebrating resurfacing and little expansion of existing roads with so much glamour when a counterpart initiated a 77Km road on virgin land to meet the actual needs of his people.

One simple question this government should answer is that how many of the celebrated projects in five years were initiated by it, in as much as we appreciate continuity in governance, credit should be given to the government that conceived the idea of these projects not you ascribing undue glory to yourself.

One wonders how a supposedly Chief Executive Officer of a state can be so naive of the fact that individuals or private entities can be allowed to repair or construct a government road ONLY on the approval of the government. Rather than Prince Dapo Abiodun making fool of the exalted office of the Governor occasioned by his ignorance, he should have asked the concerned government offices how many times the Adebutu family had written request letters to construct the roads referred to in the last 12 years without any approval given.

In the uncouth statement, Mr. Dapo Abiodun described Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu as an “overfed brat” because of his family’s wealth, while we thank God for His grace and blessings upon the Adebutu family we need to also remind Mr Abiodun that he has also at different times been a beneficiary of the Adebutu family’s wealth he is now mocking.

Mr Dapo Abiodun should also remember that this same family, having appreciated the grace and blessings of God has continued to positively impact lives, communities, institutions and even State governments unlike him, despite having access to public funds have not shown any sense of compassion on the common people and government workers including teachers despite your laughable claim that you were advised by your late father who was a teacher not to owe workers their salaries and benefits but you chose to deprive them of same. So what then is the legacy bequeathed to you?

Unfortunately, this son of a teacher has politicized everything turning himself to a maximum dictator who should not be criticized nor challenged. Mr. Abiodun’s reckless attempt to cage every indigene of the State by bamboozling undiscerning members of the public can not change the public knowledge of his unpardonable serial failures in public office. This is democracy!

In conclusion, the bragged vote buying case sponsored by the emperor and dictator against Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu will come to naught just like his several other failed attempts of using all government machineries to convict him. He can not succeed.
