The Women Radio Centre is pleased to announce that a significant breakthrough has been achieved on Friday 17 May 2024 with the arrest of key perpetrator Ali Madida who is involved in 5-thousand-naira illegal abortion to minors in Jos Plateau. Madida was apprehended by Jos police law enforcement officers led by DSP Alfred Alabo following the release of an undercover documentary by Ramatu through the Women Radio Centre with support from MacArthur Foundation.
Women Radio Centre commends the government of Plateau state and the Nigerian Police Force for the swift response. Ali Madida faces multiple charges, including performing illegal abortions on minors, endangering the health and safety of minors, and operating without a medical license. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses. Madida is a serial offender that has mastered the art of evading justice and we are hopeful that he will be prosecuted this time.
This arrest marks a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to dismantle the network responsible for exploiting vulnerable minors. It sends a strong message that such illegal and unethical practices will not be tolerated.
Women Radio Centre will continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies and legal practitioners on this critical issue. We are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that the rights and well-being of minors are protected.
