At the end of “S’etigbo” program yesterday, the Chairman, Petroleum Product Regulation and Consumer Protection Agency (PPRCPA), Hon. Arinka Odunayo, and his team continued the monitoring exercise to some filling stations in Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, Ise and Emure.
In some filling stations that were dispensing petrol when the agency visited, the agency ensured orderliness and maintenance of peace.
However, in Emure Ekiti, two filling stations were sealed off and penalized for selling a litre at the rate of #2,000.
The stations located in Emure Ekiti were shut down both for defying petroleum regulations of exploiting the masses.
The PPRCPA Chairman, Hon. Odunayo Arinka said any act of fraud or exploitation of Ekiti people by filling stations during these hard times will not be tolerated under Governor Oyebanji’s watch. He said it is true that the fuel scarcity is nationwide but no filling station should hide under that to exploit Ekiti people, noting that the sealed stations would be fined and sanctioned.
Hon. Arinka noted that aside the ongoing monitoring exercise occasioned by the nationwide fuel scarcity, his agency carries out routine surveillance aimed at monitoring product price, quality, availability, and pump efficiency.
The PPRCPA Chairman, who stated that the monitoring exercise continues today, expressed his appreciation to the leadership of Petrol Dealers Association Ekiti State chapter for maximum cooperation in curbing fraudulent activities in some filling stations.
