The Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Federal Constituency, Hon. Hakeem Adedibu, on Thursday, welcomed the ex-lawmaker, Hon. Shina Peller, and his supporters to the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He described the defection as a “new dawn” for the party in Oke Ogun and the state in general.
Adedibu, who was the former Chief Whip in the 9th Assembly, OYHA, and recently appointed by the governor as Special Assistance on Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency matters, noted that Shina Peller made the right decision by joining PDP, adding that his political might can’t be undermined in Oke-Ogun and Oyo state.
In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan, Adedibu maintained that the bigger commendation and appreciation should go to Gov. Seyi Makinde.
He added that leaders of the Oyo State chapter of the party and Oke-Ogun party leaders should equally be commended for the sense of sacrifice, patriotism, and devotion to the progress of the party, which they have demonstrated in the process of welcoming Hon. Peller and his supporters into the party’s fold.
The statement read, “I welcome former federal lawmaker, Hon. Shina Peller, to our great party. Our repositioned party’s umbrella is big and sturdy enough to accommodate democrats desirous of an indeed people’s or indeed-oriented range.
“I am optimistic that Hon. Shina Peller’s presence in our party will no doubt add enormous electoral value to the PDP in Oke-Ogun and Oyo state. Joining PDP is a good step taken for his political career.”
Adedibu noted that in all of Peller’s political career, he had served without skirmishes.
The governor’s aide assured Peller and his loyalists that the PDP would provide equal opportunities and privileges for both old and new members, adding that the party doors were still open for others to join.
While calling on the existing PDP members, especially in Oke-Ogun to welcome the decampees with open arms, he also enjoined all members of the party to remain united to move the wheel of progress of the State forward.
