He also prays that the Court orders the PDP National officers to summon the said NEC meeting in line with the provisions of the PDP Constitution.
It should be noted that while the Constitution of PDP makes it mandatory for the Party to hold NEC meeting at least once every quarter, the PDP last held its NEC meeting (97th NEC Meeting) on Thursday, September 8, 2022 – which is 1 year and 4 months ago, and there is no sign to suggest that the Acting Chairman and his NWC are prepared to call for the meeting any time soon.
The NEC has to be convened to address the issue of a substantive National Chairman for the Party. The NEC will also consider the nomination of Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh-Okoye from the Southeast ZEC as the National Secretary, which has been affirmed by an Enugu State High Court and the PDP Board of Trustees. The NEC will also consider the nomination from the Southsouth to fill the position of the National Woman Leader. Most importantly, the NEC may call for a Special National Convention or a Mini National Convention to determine the possibility of a fresh NWC to handle the affairs of the Party.
