My attention has been drawn to a video in circulation made by a colleague and Member of the House of Representatives (with gubernatorial ambition in Edo State), Hon Anamero Sunday Dekeri, informing the public that all Honourable Members of the Tenth Assembly were given four trailers loaded with rice for their various Federal Constituencies.
This information and claim is not only spurious but also misleading. As the Member representing Badagry Federal Constituency, I can categorically state that not one bag of rice has been given by or supplied from the Federal Government of Nigeria for the purpose of distributions to any Constituency.
The Federal Government, in its wisdom and in line with tradition, made a pledge for the provision of rice palliatives and solar lights for the development of our areas. However, as of today, this has not been concluded by the Ministry responsible for the same.
In the spirit of the season, as I have done for many years through my foundation, I personally celebrated by providing bags of rice, cash, and other materials from my PERSONAL PURSE to quite a number of my constituents. Furthermore, I would like to provide further details on the resources I personally expended on New Year palliatives for my constituents. My commitment is to provide quality representation to our people, and my constituency office is open to provide more information on the extent of my personal contributions.
In the spirit of transparency and forthright service, I will also call on the various security agencies, especially the EFCC, to investigate the purported supply of 2,400 bags of rice to any member of the House of Representatives for distribution to their constituents.
The service to our people is sacrosanct, and I remain dedicated to upholding the trust placed in me by my constituents.
Thank you, and God bless.
Hon. Prince Whingan Sesi Oluwaseun
