Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubabar, has said that history will vindicate him on the decision of the Supreme Court which dismissed his petition filed against the victory of President Bola Tinubu.
Atiku, at a press conference on Monday said he had known before that should the apex court endorse the victory of Tinubu, the loss would not be his but that of Nigerians in all.
Atiku also said that the inteRpretation. of his loss at the supreme court means the type of country Nigerians want to have in the eyes of the world.
He said he brought about “incontrovertible evidence” which showed that Tinubu was not qualified to stand for election in the first instance.
The PDP candidate also said that there were enough evidence brought before the court to show violence and intimidation which ought to have satisfied the judges in their quest for evidence to deliver justice.
At the press conference are the National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Mohammed Damagun; Chairman of the Board of Trustees and former Senate President, Adulphus Wabara and other executives of the party.
Atiku later listed what he called the implications of the verdicts of the presidential election petition tribunal and the Supreme court saying the impacts on Nigeria are many.
He said the outcome of his petition has eroded trust in future elections adding that it would be difficult to convince Nigerians to have trust in future polls.
He added that part of the implications is that future election contenders should prepare to win at all cost and employ whatever means possible whether legal or not. He said future election contenders may not border on issues of identity theft, impersonation, perjury and violence.
He added that the implication of the decision of the court is that future contenders should not border to go to court knowing they would not get justice.
Atiku however warned that the realities portend great dangers for the country, adding that the countries of Africa that have suffered collapse took the same route.
