River State House of Assembly Allegedly Set On Fire Over Impeachment Threat Against Governor Fubara

There is tension in PortHarcourt, the River state capital as the House of Assembly has been burnt down in a strange inferno that happened late Sunday.

Hoodlums had invaded the complex at about 9:45pm which is a stone throw to the Headquarters of the Police command in the state.

Before the hoodlums were dislodged, the hoodlums had set the main chamber of the Assembly complex on fire.

It was also gathered that the hoodlums had used hand grenades to cause an explosion in the building before the fire started. This claim could not be independently verified.

the peak of the ‘war’ between former Governor Nyesom Wike, who is currently serving as the Minister of the FCT and Governor Fubara, his protege.

Wike had ensured the election of Fubara in the March 2023 election in the state.

There have been allegations that since Wike left, he has remained at the commanding height of the state affairs.

Politicians loyal to Fubara are said to have urged Fubara to assert himself as the Chief Executive of the state.
