The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON has congratulated the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu on the occasion of his 80th birthday on Sunday, October 29.
Senator Akpabio in a congratulatory message issued by Hon Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity hailed the monarch for being a beacon of stability despite the global reputation of his kingdom in Lagos as one of the world’s most cosmopolitan centres.
The Senate President also hailed the monarch for his easy transition from a law enforcement officer to an emblem of royalty.
“Your majesty, you have provided a cushion and protected the traditional tenets of your forefathers against the dynamism of modernity and done so with such regality and pomp to the satisfaction of all tendencies within your realm.
“Lagos may still be regarded as one of the world’s most cosmopolitan centres with its diverse cultural, political and I dare say ethnic compilations, but that has not breached the tradition of your forefathers.”
Hailing his easy transition from a retired police officer to a beacon of royalty, the Senate President said:
“Your easy transition from a law enforcement officer to royalty has also been amazing given the polish and taste you have brought to bear as Eleko of Eko.”
“On the occasion of your 80th birthday I wish to on behalf of my colleagues in the 10th Senate salute you and appreciate you for all you have done in providing wisdom and counsel to our political actors especially within your realm in Lagos,” the Senate President said as he wished Oba Akiolu more years on the throne.
