The embattled Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon. Wale Adedayo is a typical black. Black neither breaks nor cracks. It endures seasons and is able to stand the test of time.
I’ve known Mr. Adedayo for over 23 years, and he stands out as one of the few professionals and senior colleagues, who consciously helped to mould me in my early years in journalism.
With the likes of Mr. Jide Ajani, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon and Mr. Dotun Oladipo, these men, who incidentally were friends, stood in the line for me in my startup days and at different times, just because they wanted to see me grow on the job. May God bless you, sirs🙏🏻
That said, the last few days must have been challenging for Adedayo after he openly stood up to the establishment in Ogun State over alleged misappropriation of council funds. His audacity as a sitting council chairman is what has continued to surprise many.
But the many here are probably in the category of those who did not know Adedayo and what he is capable of. He has never been afraid to challenge the authorities, speak the truth to power, and stand for what is right and just. He never accepts cheating, and you can’t oppress or suppress him. Attempts to cower him would only embolden him the more.
For a man, who has spent a lot of his savings on self-development in some of the best universities around the world, studying top courses of interest, he is the least of persons to be intimidated by anyone, no matter how delusional.
Recently, Adedayo was picked up by the DSS on account of his allegations against the state and was just released after a few days of “vacationing” at the office of the secret service. One thing is sure: Adedayo would not lie against anyone or cook up falsehood just to demonise them. He’s got balls, and seriously so.
Unfortunately, this intervention is in contravention of my own decision to not make any comments on Ogun State since the current government assumed office in 2019, a promise I had hitherto kept. But with Adedayo in a bout, somewhat, with the powerful on account of his patriotism, I had to break it, albeit cautiously.
Babalawo, as we always call him, I just want to charge you to remain the BLACK that I’ve always known: do not crack or break. Whatever that’s going on now is a phase and the truth, ultimately, will come to pass. I know and I’m confident you’ll never trade your good name for anything.
