In a bid to add more excitement to the ongoing Nigerian Idol Season 8 Live edition, Bigi Drinks, Nigeria’s leading carbonated soft drink took consumers and fans of the music reality show by surprise as it brought the last two winners – Kingdom and Progress, to Ikeja City Shopping Mall, Lagos Nigeria.
The event, which witnessed hundreds of spectators, was organized to also commiserate this Year’s Father’s Day and give the consumers as well as fans the opportunity to connect with their most cherished Nigerian Idol season 6 and season 7 winners as well as their favourite soft drink which is always there to accompany its consumers to greatness through sponsorship and consumer-engaging activities.
The atmosphere became charged as the rising star and Nigerian Idol season 6 winner, Kingdom Kroseide, who has been praised for his unique vocal sound, energetic live performances, and crowd interaction, started performing his debut single – ‘My Father’s Got It All’ which ended up beckoning the attention of fans and consumers of the Bigi drinks. In a chit-chat with newsmen after his performance, Kingdom commended Bigi brand for taking entertainment to greater heights through viable platform like Nigerian Idol.
Teaming up, the highly talented music singer and songwriter, Progress who has been enjoying wide and massive love and attention from everyone – both on social media and over the internet upon winning the Nigerian Idol last edition, beautify the shopping mall with a masterpiece performance of ‘Lift Me Up” by multiple Grammy Awards winner, Rihanna.
Speaking at the event, the Assistant Brand Manager of Bigi drink, Biola Aransiola said “We wanted to do something distinct to honor fathers on their special day as we know that fathers play an important role in their families, yet are the least celebrated, and considering footfalls, the venue is mostly the choice of fathers to hang out with their loved ones to relax, unwind and have fun in a distinctive way.”
She further added that “We believe Nigerians are blessed with raw talents, most especially in the area of music creation, and bringing those we’ve been able to accompany to the limelight closer to interact with the general public is a form of motivation to those who desire to live up to their dreams”.

Meanwhile, the top 6 contestants have emerged as handsome-guy Chisom has been eliminated on Sunday evening from the race to the throne of 2023 Nigerian Idol, after getting the least votes from viewers of the most loved music reality show.
The latest Live Show themed ‘Family Favourite’ gave the contenders the opportunity to render songs from their family’s library, that is, the ones they grew up to inherit from either of the parents – father or mother as they likewise got the opportunity of a family member accompanying them at the waiting lounge.
Coming on the stage first, smiling Victory Gbakara displayed raw talent through ‘My Redeemer Lives’ performance by Nicole C Mullen, as usual, he got all commendations from the judges. Grabbing the microphone, Ose Daniel who is known for charming stage character and personality performed ‘Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You’ by George Benson in the presence of his mum.
Beautiful and trendy Precious Mac made it through as she took the moment to render Shania Twain’s ‘From This Moment’, bringing her sister to tears owing to the beautiful performance and delivery. Gorgeous and bold Goodness performed ‘Mercy Said No’ by CeCe Winans, leaving the audience wowed, most especially taking D’banj through the song as he found it specially fascinating.
Bringing the show to a near-end, the serenade – Savvy Henry rendered ‘Hero’ by Enrique Iglesias, specifically for his mum, while the graceful Quest solidified her spot with CeCe Winans’s’ ‘Alabaster Box’. Remarkably, all the contenders got applause from both spectators and the presiding judges for dishing out their best, making the night a worthwhile one.
Fascinatingly, fans and viewers can vote for their favourite contestants, up to twenty-five thousand (2500) units via MyDStv and MyGOtv while an additional 100 votes can be done through the website and mobile phone, respectively.
