Wale Adedayo Looks back at 1 year of being Local Govt Chairman

In a few hours time, it will be one year since son of man was sworn in as Chairman, Ijebu East Local Government. I had pleaded, vainly, with officials of our Ministry of Justice to be allowed an item of Ogun (The Divine Clearer of pathways) for my oath of office. But they pleaded it was not part of what they brought. So, it was the Holy Qur’an for me as a Yoruba-Muslim.

I had pledged to my ancestors and the Oshis (late leaders) of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, long before one became the APC candidate, that I’ll not disgrace them in office. In addition, these ones on the other side of the divide were also implored to FORCEFULLY correct me IF I should miss the path they laid out.

Olodumare knows we may not have performed up to 100%, but we have put in our very best efforts. Personal sacrifice was the lot of my team, especially those of them in charge of works and waste management. I am very proud of my team and the people of Ijebu East Local Government for their understanding and love. Without the much-needed support from our people, the little efforts we have put in would not have been possible.

From Imobi, where we took off to Ogbere, Ajebandele, Itele, Ijebu Ife, Owu, Ikija and Ijebu Imushin, it has been love all the way. Wen ni ku ri ona bii ti eefi o. Ese keta ke me ku dede owon okunren eni, at’agba at’omode! Ewen Obinren, wen me seku omo o! Apamowo owo, atajere oja ri tuwen ma je o!
