***** IMMORTALIZE LATE DR SULE
Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello says his administration will continue to improve the welfare of Doctors in the state to ensure good and efficient service delivery in the health sector.
The Governor stated this in Minna at the memorial lecture and book lunch in honour of one time commissioner for Health late Dr Ibrahim Babaminin Sule, who died about a year ago.
The event was organized by the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) Niger State Chapter.
He said the efforts of his administration in the sector is evident such that the Minna General Hospital that was hitherto having only two consultants now has 33 along side other medical innovations in the state.
Governor Sani Bello described late Dr Sule as a man of integrity, honesty and a true professional who was dedicated in his service to God and humanity, hence, he named the ongoing special ward at the Minna General Hospital after late Dr Babaminin Sule.
While going down memory lane, Governor Sani Bello, said he had known the late Doctor as a former cabinet member and based on merit he appointed him to head a committee to reform the health sector by investigating unethical practices leading to deaths both at public and private hospitals, check out quacks, diversion of patients from public to private hospitals as well as welfare of Doctors and other health workers among others.
“The committee Late Dr. Sule was chairing was to look at such issues and advice the government on how It could monitor and stop such illegal practices, unfortunately he died before the conclusion of the assignment, we will however reactivate it he said.”
He said the eulogies and testimonies about the life of late Dr Sule call for sober reflections such that would propel one to live good legacies that will stand the taste of time.
In their separate remarks, Chairman of the occasion and Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulahi Bawa and the Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers who is also the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar eulogized late Dr Sule for his commitment to service to humanity.
Former Secretary to Niger State Government and author of the book titled Ibrahim Babaminin Sule; The Inspirational Humanist, Prof. Muhammad Kuta Yahaya explained that he was inspired to write the book based on the tributes and eulogies poured on late Dr Sule following the news of his demise.
Prof. Kuta Yahaya who expressed optimism that the book will serve as inspiration to younger and coming generations on the need to live a life of good legacies also described late Sule as phenomenally caring, humble and an interesting personality with the fear of God.
Prof Muhammad Suleiman, Barr. Mohammed Ndarani Mohammed among others in their separate goodwill messages described late Dr Sule as a straight forward, honest and a true professional.
Earlier, Chairman, Iman Niger State Chapter, Dr Muhammad Audi said that late Dr Sule served meritoriously and mentored many.
Dr Nasiru Sani-Gwarzo, Permanent Seecrtary, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment reviewed the 180 pages book while Prof Muuatassim Ibrahim of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital delivered keynote address.
The book which is a compilation of tributes and eulogies of late Dr Sule was unveiled by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello in company of his wife and Estu Nupe among other top dignitaries present at the event.
