Since the ‘Supreme Leader’ of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in commando style in faraway Kenya, many people have continued to feast on the baits that allegedly led to his arrest: money and women.

Although the correct story has not yet been confirmed, I make bold to say it’s not correct to conclude that an activist must avoid “women and money” to succeed. It’s impossible. Those are two critical lubricants of every struggle.

On the contrary, what the individual needs are “discipline and circumspection” to tame the temptation from women and money. That is the correct admonition.

Across all human endeavours, “women and money” are too critical to be avoided. It’s a no-brainer!

Whether in politics, civil society, government, sports, entertainment, worship places and activism, women and money are key and their importance is dependent on their deployments.

What you need at all times, however, are discipline and circumspection. But not everyone is gifted these. Yet, we can imbibe them.

The baits of women and money could bring down anyone, no matter how highly placed, for as long as he is lacking discipline and circumspection, which equals self-control.
