**blames poor government decision for escalation
The turn of events, especially in the last 48hours in Lagos, has undoubtedly exposed serious gaps in leadership and coordination within the Governor Sanwo-Olu administration, the Lead Visioner of TEAM JANDOR, Mr. Abdul – Azeez Olajide Adediran, revealed on Wednesday.
It could be recalled that tragedy struck on Tuesday when security operatives, in a bid to disperse #EndSARS protesters, reportedly opened fire on youths at the Lekki tollgate around 7pm.
The Lagos largest socio – political group also lost a devoted member of TEAM JANDOR, Mr. Bolaji Ariori Akinsemoyin, murdered by fired bullets from the rifle of security operatives in the Lagos Island area of Lagos state.
Jandor, as he is popularly called, noted that the “peaceful protests got escalated to shocking dimensions, largely due to poor judgement and ill-timed decisions of the government.
He expressed that “As the Chief Security Officer of the state, no amount of bulk passing or blame game, after the fact, can justify the events of Tuesday October 20.
“First, a 24-hr curfew is announced on a working day with barely 4-hour window to comply,” Jandor added.
Questioning the inconsistency in government’s decisions, he asked that “How were Lagosians meant to make it back home before the 4pm deadline?”
“Next is an extension of the curfew to 9pm, announced at about 7pm on social media, at the same time soldiers deployed use of live bullets on peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate.”
Condemning the reported destruction of so many public amenities being razed, he lamented the unfortunate incidents, saying “these will only add a huge deficit to our already lean infrastructure in the state when the dust settles”.
While charging the government to show leadership at a time like this and de-escalate tension most urgently, Jandor appealed to all Lagosians to embrace peace and dialogue to resolve the ongoing challenges.
