The Peoples Democratic Party screening panel for the party’s primary election in Ondo State on Friday disqualified two of the nine aspirants jostling to clinch the party’s ticket for the October 10 governorship election.
The Yakubu Dogara-led screening panel declared the two candidates ineligible to partake in the party’s primary. Dogara told reporters after the exercise, “Unfortunately, two of our aspirants did not pass the litmus test.”He, however, declared that they are free to approach the appeal committee which sits on Monday to seek redress.
Meanwhile, an insider source who spoke with Zebra News said the two aspirants who were screened out are Otunba Bamidele Akingboye and Godday Erewa, the source who doesn’t want his name mentioned said both candidates were disqualified following their inability to meet the requirements for the Governorship primary election holding November.
“Two of the nine aspirants have been dropped, they were sent out for not meeting the party’s conditions. They are Godday Erewa and Bamidele Akingboye”. The source said. Explaining further why they were screened out, “Akingboye for instance, did not even have a voters card, that is one of the reason he was disqualified. Erewa on the other hand has conflicting certificates with different names, Besides these certificate issues, Akingboye didn’t scale through, especially because he didn’t have voters card”.
Names of aspirants cleared for indirect primary includes, Okunomo Banji Ben, Ayorinde Bode, Ebiseni Sola, Eyitayo Jegede, Kunlere Boluwaji, Agboola Alfred Ajayi, Olafeso Eddy.
