Igbotako, the countryhome of Sen Boluwaji Kunlere, a leading gubernatorial aspirant in the forthcoming election in Ondo State,
was agog few days back as the former senator representing Ondo South in the national Assembly commenced consultations on his ambition.
Sen Kunlere, who is jostling for the governorship ticket on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had played host to the party’s local government chairmen in the three senatorial districts in the state.
Speaking at the parley, Kunlere appealed to the party faithful to bury their differences and forge a common front during the next elections.
According to him, his previous roles as a Council chairman, member of the state assembly and senator had a remarkable impact on his constituents.
However, he promised to build on his track record if the people could once again entrust their votes to him for the next governorship race.
“Let me reiterate here again that our state is richly endowed. I have been part of governance at the council and state levels as well as a senator. During my stay in office, I can confidently point at so many projects I embarked on for the benefit of my people. It is now the time to put myself up for governorship race, and I am confident, God willing, it will be a worthwhile opportunity”, he stated.
Some of the party chairmen who spoke at the event include Mr Elevis Akinforesoye from Ile-Oluji, Alhaji Jamiu, Akoko North and Elder Elder Kunle Aborowa from Ose local governments respectively.
The party chairmen spoke glowingly of the governorship aspirant, attesting to his contributions to the development of the area while he was in office.
They, however, pledged their support for Kunlere’s ambition, urging him to be steadfast in his campaign and be more committed to people-oriented programmes when elected.
