A member of the National Assembly, Abuja representing Egbado North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency in Ogun State has voiced out his consternation on the spate of insecurity in his Constituency. Olaifa in a release he personally signed reported “I am sad to formally bring to the public notice of an unacceptable renewed onslaught of Fulani Herdsmen on my Constituents of Egbado North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency in Ogun State. While my people like others globally are grappling with the troubling effects of COVID – 19 pandemic, no fewer than three cases of attacks were recorded on the Abeokuta – Olorunda – Aiyetoro/Imeko Road in the last 4days”. The Federal House of Reps member alleged that the attacks were from Fulani herdsmen.
One Segun Ileyemi was mentioned in the release as one of the victims. He was alleged to have been attacked around Olorunda on Sunday 3rd May in an attempt to rob him of his belongings. He was said to have sustained injuries from several stabbing by his assailants as he is still receiving treatment on his hospital bed at the General Hospital, Ayetoro.
Another Commercial vehicle was said to have been attacked two days ago with the driver allegedly shot and died on the spot. Hon. Olaifa in the same release mentioned that “a Policewoman attached to the Area Command office, Ayetoro was kidnapped with her car left by the roadside” with the whereabout still being tracked by the necessary operatives according to the release.
The Ayetoro born lawmaker while lamenting other similar cases in the past pleaded with the security agencies to device better and more proactive measure to put an end to the operations of the attackers.
He concluded that “My last line goes to the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, that one is not oblivious of his tireless efforts but it is just a statement of fact that a lot are still calling for his attention in Egbado North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, particularly in the areas of Security and Road rehabilitation as these armed robbers and kidnappers mostly take advantage of the near impassable roads to attack our helpless people”.
