THE DEMISE OF ABBA KYARI – By Bimbo Shokunbi.

The death of Abba Kyari would naturally be received with mixed reactions. It is however surprising that majority of people are happy with his demise. We should not lose our humanity irrespective of how we feel about any one or any issue. This is however a lesson for our leaders albeit rulers. When General Abacha died, Nigerians poured on the streets to jubilate. When President Yaradua died, the mood was very pensive.Indubitably, every leader would determine where he belongs as far as history is concerned and in the hearts of the people.
It is important to always have it in mind that power is transient and the opportunity to write one’s name in gold might not present itself a second time.It is also important to know that it is VANITY UPON VANITY if power is used for selfish and personal interests.
Our leaders should learn from the case of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who tested positive to COVID19 and he was even in ICU.He was treated at a public facility as is their culture because the government would always ensure that public facilities are world class. Here, our leaders run abroad to treat cold because they have failed/refused/neglected to do the needful. Also, the love shown to him by his people including the opposition while he battled the virus was commendable. It was akin to what we saw in Oyo State when Governor Rotimi Makinde tested positive to the virus. His people showed him love because they know he is a good leader. My mother in law who lives in Ibadan said they were all praying for him because they love him.No wonder their Governor was healed miraculously and recovered in record time.Nigerians are not mad or fools. They know a good leader when they see one.
This is not the time to rejoice over the demise of a human being bearing in mind that we are all mortals. This is a time for sober reflection. The world is a stage.Abba Kyari acted his part and took a bow.Whether he acted well or not would be between him and his creator.
Good night ABBA KYARI.
