Opinion: Coronavirus don’t wait till by wale Olaleye

Truth is, if we do not take this Covid-19 challenge as seriously as it requires, Melinda Gate’s predictions are nearer home than we can imagine.

And like a friend said to me this morning, if people do not start seeing bodies littering the streets, they won’t believe this is real and comply. But that would be too bad for us.

Unfortunately, it would have been too late by then. Our options are therefore two: live or die. You live my complying or die by flouting the rather difficult orders/rules.

The time to start embracing personal discipline as part of our survival strategy is now. We must see this as a war situation (it is actually) and start thinking survival as against these needless recriminations and finger-pointing.

All that’s required of us as responsible citizens now are support, understanding and compliance. To even think this is all about us and the struggle to live. Government too is in dire straits. Stop making it seem as if President Muhammadu Buhari brought this upon us. Hell no!

Whilst we’ll continue to urge governments at all levels to improve on their palliatives and the distribution patterns, what’s more important is taking personal responsibilities, knowing full well that your life is in your hands.

Above all, we must admit that our world will never remain the same again, thus, it is smart to start to thinking post Covid-19 now.
