The Association of EX-LG Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) has warned Governors playing religious politics on COVID-19 to weigh the aftermath effect .
The group pointed out that the citizens of Italy, USA, Iran and UK are now recording high rate of death on COVID-19 because they failed to heed the protocols and precautions as advised by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The Former Council Chairmen also advised the Governors to always liaise with all the relevant authorities at the federal level before taking action on COVID-19.
The association said that the Governors of Kastina and Niger States last week relaxed the restrictions order and within 24hrs after the order Kastina and Niger recorded new cases of Coronavirus.
The attitude of some state Governors making the people to think that the issue of Coronavirus is a scam.
Now that there is Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, it is necessary for the states and Presidential Task Force to speak with one voice and work as a coordinating country.
The release also call on the Federal Government to work in conjunction with the incumbent Local Chairmen in 774 local governments on distribution of palliative measures.
It said that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs based in Abuja can’t know who is poorest or vulnerable in all the 774 local governments.
The former administrators condemned the attitude of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs by moving to the states with cash. Who will bear the loss if anything happens to the cash in transit, the group asked.
