The Ekiti State Commissioner for Health and Human services, Dr.
Mojisola Yaya Kolade has met with religious leaders and relevant
stakeholders in the state as part of efforts at ensuring total
compliance with the recent ban on all forms of gathering above
20people to curb the spread of the deadly Corona virus.
Addressing newsmen in Ado Ekiti while giving an update on the virus in
the State, Dr. Yaya-Kolade said that the only case that had been
confirmed positive in the state was in stable condition.
The Commissioner added that the state Convid 19 surveillance team had
traced the 37people out of the 41people that had contact with the
index case before it was detected and quarantined, adding that the
team would continue tirelessly to ensure that the remaining four
people were identified and necessary steps taken to curtail the
spread.
Yaya-Kolade stressed the need for the people to engage in regular hand
washing with soap under running water, maintain basic personal hygiene
and reasonable social distancing.
She said that government would continue to engage in advocacy with
traditional rulers, CAN, NASFAT, market women, leaders of Okada riders
associations and Drivers’ unions in the state to sensitize them on
basic steps to follow in order to curtain in the spread of the virus
in the state.
According to her, financial institutions, corporate bodies in both the
public and private sectors have been duly communicated on how to
ensure safety of their customers and staff, stressing that the
government taskforce was already moving round to ensure that the
government’s directives were complied with.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and
Human Services, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi appealed to shop-owners not to
inflate the prices of sanitizers and other allied products that may
assist in curtailing the virus.
