1. My people, ordinarily I should be writing about Coronavirus today but for the singular fact that I do not have any extra knowledge of the virus beyond what is known to all of us. Again, the implications for us as a people ought to be another compelling point of engagement.
2. Again, I cannot equally claim to be that knowledgeable to write much on the subject. Notwithstanding this, I wish to point out the following foreseeable implications I consider pertinent for the leadership of our nation to consider.
3. I might not be entirely correct and I do not claim prophethood in this regard. My sense of perception tells me that a point will come when the Nation might not have enough petroleum products to power our vehicles, thus impairing our movement.
4. Similarly, the same scarcity will apply to diesel supplies. Remember that sizeable quantity of these products are imported into the country. Remember also that most of the production plants, refineries are on vacation.
5. Remember also that the products we can at best rely on are the ones on the high seas. Should the virus challenge continue unabated, this can easily be exhausted. The consequence of this is inability to distribute food to us all. We need to anticipate and plan against this.
6. A stage will also be reached that there will be no power to pump water, if this is not guided against, sanitation challenges will creep in. Lack of portable water will soar beyond where we are presently.
7. Another looming epidemics will then be imminent. Do we have contingency plan for it? Doctors also need to simulate heat situation to arrest consequential one in the absence of power.
8. Is it unlikely for Banks to shut down eventually and we are all directed to ATM machines! Another potential potent carrier of the virus that we all will be subjected to.
9. This is imminent when foodstuffs becomes scare and vendors insists on cash payment. Horrendous queue will spring up, forcing the inevitable cramping we are struggling to eliminate.
10. Is our government aware of the population of people at the market places, particularly supermarkets?
11. Any plan for this scenario?. Is total lockdown inevitable considering the manner we are progressing with the virus?. Where this happens, how are we going to survive, particularly those of us on daily earnings?. Pardon me for all these, just thinking aloud!
12. At this stage, I will strongly advocate and plead that we consider total lockdown now.
13. I will however appreciate responses and plans against all these potentials. In ending, any lesson learnt by our leaders from the event?. I am not sure but suspect that it seems obvious now that only God is powerful.
14. Where are the Excellencies and the superpowers?. Are they muted or in voice mail?. With the billions of inhabitants of this world, none yet can find solution to the problem.
15. To our leaders, beyond Coronavirus, let us carry the humility we have now being subjected to by Coronavirus beyond the existence if we are fortunate to conquer it. My people, am gentle and remain so!
16. God willing, we shall continue next week.
