WE’LL NEVER EMBARK ON ANY DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS IN OGUN – WORKS COMMISSIONER

Following a recent publication by an online medium, Platform Times with the headline, ‘Ogun resident cries out over unlawful demolition of building’, alleging the State Government of illegally demolition of building along Fajol-Lion Junction road in Obantoko, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya has come out to set the record straight.

Given a detailed account of proceeding on the event, Engr. Akinsanya said it was the make shift of iron roofing sheets that was removed, as against the claim of the demolition of building, saying, ‘’barricade was seen as a major obstruction to the right of way in the area, as a result of this, the State Urban and Regional Planning Board Development Control Department issued a stop work notice with Serial No 0047803’’.

The Commissioner revealed that, despite the order, the owner of the Project, Surveyor Taiwo Faleti, refused to rescind his action, hence the removal of the obstruction, “it should be clearly stated that the Project under review was unauthorized and did not comply with the development permit, issued by the Development Control Department of the Urban and Regional Planning Board”.

Akinsanya reiterated that, in as much as the State Government does not take delight in demolition of structures for road expansion, however, structures that could constitute nuisance, obstructing right of ways, on water course, under power lines and others which do not conform with the set standard as stipulated under the State Urban and Regional Planning Law No. 20 of 2005 may be
