In his quest to encourage enthusiasm for sports even beyond the civilian community, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, today presented a number of sporting materials to the Ilorin FRSC Unit Command.
Representing the Governor at the occasion, which took place at the premises of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Abdulquadir Shuaib Akanbi, said that the items were provided to cater for the sporting needs of the officers within the Command and to further strengthen the cordial relationship that has been existing between the Ilorin Federal Road Safety Corps Command and the Ministry.
The Governor added that it is included in his vision to use sports to address many issues, urging the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously.
Receiving the sports equipment, the Assistant Corps Commandant, Ilorin FRSC Command, Mr. Nasir Zakari, thanked the Kwara State Government for generously responding to the request of the Command, saying the gesture shows that the Governor is a father to all in the State.
Zakari disclosed that the donation of these equipment will heighten the good relationship between the Command and the Ministry, noting that this will further motivate the participation of the Command in the Ministry’s activities.
Some of the materials donated included Table Tennis Board, Table Tennis Bats, Packets of Table Tennis Balls, Footballs, Volley Balls, Volley Ball Nets, set of jerseys, Chess Board, Skipping Rope and others.
Also present at the event were the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply, Alhaja Afusat Afolabi, the Director, Youth Development, Alhaja Aishat Mohammed, Deputy-Director, Sports Development, Mallam Ibrahim Bako and members of the Ilorin FRSC Command.
