Apologise to Gov Abiodun or face our wrath, Ogun students tell Ladi Adebutu

THE National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOS) has descended heavily on a former Governorship aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party in the State, Ladi Adebutu over alleged slight on Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun during a handshake.

The students urged Adebutu to without delay tender an unalloyed apology to the Ogun State Governor or face their wrath.

National President of NAOSS, Comrade Ogunrombi Gbemileke, in a statement on Monday, made available to Nigerian Tribune in Abuja said what happened was an attempt to ridicule the Governor and his office, insisting that the act portended danger to the nation’s nascent democracy.

He said: “In a subtle manner, did an Ekiti state student called our attention to two pictures taken at the 80th birthday of the mother of the former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose.

“The pictures show how, a former Governorship aspirant of the PDP greeted the duo of our Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the former Governor of Ekiti state and son of the celebrant, Mr Fayose.

The picture which angered us as indigenous students showed that Ladi bowed to greet former Governor Fayose while he sat down, looked away and proudly stretched his hand to the incumbent Governor of Ogun state.

“The act clearly showed that Ladi Adebutu took advantage of the humility of the Governor to greet him in an unruly manner which is capable of undermining the office of the Governor.

“With the quality of our forbears, Ogun state is known to be an ideological state, occupied by well-cultured people and for no reason would we trade the hard-earned culture of our hero past.

“Also, this uncultured behaviour of the PDP aspirant is as well capable of subjecting us as leaders of Ogun students to laughing stock before indigenous students of other states especially Ekiti state.

“To this end, we request that Mr Ladi apologise to the Governor for that disgraceful manner of greeting a Governor or receive the wrath of Nigerian Students sooner than expected,” he said.
