Ekiti workers Give condition to collect 30,000 minimum wage
- The attention of the State leadership of the organized labour in Ekiti State has
been drawn to Your Excellency pronouncement to commence the payment of N30,
000 New Minimum Wage to entire workers in Ekiti State. The pronouncement
prompted the leadership of organized labour to meet on Sunday 6th October 2019 and
after exhaustive deliberations resolved to appreciate your Excellency for this gesture. - Your Excellency, our appreciation to your administration on this pronouncement
is premised on the belief of the entire workers that the payment of the N30, 000
National Minimum Wage will be based on the proposed National Template increment
of 66.6% for GL 01-06, 29% for GL07-GL14, and 24% for GL15-GL17 of the N30, 000
National Minimum Wage. - To this end, please note that in line with the National Directive of the leadership
of the organized labour, anything short of the above percentages, the organized
labour in Ekiti State will not do anything contrary to the Wednesday October 16th 2019
deadline set by the National leadership of organized labour for the National Strike in
Nigeria over the insincerity of Government in the payment of the N30, 000 New
National Minimum Wage to entire Public Servants in Nigeria across GL01-GL17. - Your Excellency, the organized Labour in the State is constraint to refer to a
meeting held on Monday 30th September 2019 in the Office of the Head of Service
with leadership of the organized labour; the resolution then was that the State
Government should ensure due process with the setting up of Negotiation Team and
fulfillment in the payment of outstanding salaries and other emoluments before
commencing the implementation of N30,000 New National Minimum Wage in Ekiti
State; although, the event of Saturday 5th October 2019 has contravened the
resolution. - It is equally expedient and imperative to reiterate the high hope of the entire
workforce in Ekiti State on the persistent promise of His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode
Fayemi that before Wednesday October 16th 2019; when His Excellency administration
will be one year in office. the liquidation of underlisted outstanding payments, which
are very sacrosanct, should have been effected;
I. Three months salaries for the State Public Servants and outstanding two
months deductions of September 2017 and May 2018.
Outstanding six months salaries owned workers in the local government
and primary school teachers for the following months April, May, June,
July, August and September 2018.
III. Outstanding financial implications of the promotion given to all deserving
workers in the years 2015, 2016, and 2017 among other sundry issues
affecting service matters.
IV. Outstanding leave bonuses for the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 to all
Public Servants in Ekiti State. - Your Excellency, for avoidance of doubt, the non-payment of these
aforementioned outstandings, which is at the front burner; by your administration,
before the promised date may threaten the industrial peace of our dear State.
Workers are charged and pregnant with anxieties. - The leadership of the organized labour is committed to the welfare of the entire
workforce in Ekiti State where government will be forthcoming in the sincere
fulfillment to the promises given and ensure social dialogue take a centre stage so
as to provide conducive atmosphere that will guarantee trust and confidence
building to conform with best International Industrial Relations Practices across the
world.
