The eligibility suit against the incumbent governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, was on Monday (today) struck out by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
The dismantled suit had questioned the eligibility of Governor Wike in the last governorship election in Rivers State.
The Supreme Court in two unanimous judgments of a five-man panel sustained two appeals initiated by Wike wherein he challenged the leave granted to Elvis Chinda by the Court of Appeal.
It would be recalled that Chinda had approached the Federal High Court, confronting amongst others, the authenticity of birth certificate allegedly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and prayed the court to disqualify him from contesting the last governorship election.
