Surulere Alleged Rituals video Police says Husband innocent and wife mentally unbalanced

  1. Arrest of alleged ‘Kidnappers for money ritual’ and rescue of Victims…Police warn against Jungle Justice.
    On 6th June ,2019 at about 12.45pm, the Command’s control room received a distress call that a mob action is going on at Lawanson junction, Itere. Anti crime patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer Itere, CSP Odey Ogah was prompted deployed to the scene. One Justina Emmanuel ‘f’ of No 10 Bishop Okogie Street Ago and her one and a half year old daughter, Munachisom Agugom were rescued. Two suspects namely: Joseph Agugom ‘m’ and Paul Agugom ‘ m’ both of the same address with the victms, were rescued from the mobs. They were alleged to have kidnapped the victims for ritual purposes. One Honda CRV car with Registration No. LAGOS FST 587 BU, one LG Phone , one iPhone, One bag containing two flasks, three pieces of rope, one black para military belt and one green beret were recovered. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim is married to one of the suspects, Joseph Agugom and the child belongs to both of them. It was also revealed that the victim is suffering from mental illness and she is being transported to hospital when she raised alarm and some members of the public stopped the car and descended on the suspects. Members of both the suspects and victims family came to the station and made statements to the effect that the victim is suffering from mental illness and was actually being transported to hospital. The other two children of the victim with her husband, were brought to the Station, contrary to the allegations of the victim that they were killed by the husband for money ritual. The victim was taken to hospital by the Police for medical examination. Police has launched a manhunt on those who participated in the mob action with a view of bringing them to justice. Members of the Public are strongly advised to be more careful not to jump into conclusions on alarm raised by anybody. Innocent persons have suffered death or bodily harm and inhuman treatment through jungle justice. Members of the Public have the powers to arrest anybody suspected of a crime but the law provides that such persons arrested should be handed over to the Police immediately. It is only investigating that can determine the truthfulness or otherwise of the allegations. And our laws presumes the accused person to be innocent until proven guilty by Court of competent jurisdiction.
  2. 61years old man arrested for cutting off the hand of 11years old boy
    On 7th June, 2019 at about 12.20pm one Doris Isaac ‘f’ of No.6 Ajanaku Street, Okoko reported at Okoko Police Station that on the same date at about 8.20am, her foster son, Goodluck Amechi ‘m ‘ of the same address, 11years old, was attacked with a matchet by one Jeremiah Obifor ‘m’ 61years old of No.14 Isha Ibrahim street, Mechanic Bus stop, Mebamu, Okoko and cut off his right hand. The victim was rushed to Igando General Hospital. The suspect alleged that, he saw the victim around his fish pond and thought that he came to steal his fish, that is why he attacked him. Investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged to Court.
  3. Two-Man Squad of Motorcycles snatching syndicate arrested and arms recovered
    On 8th June ,2019 at about 10.00am one Mohammed Faruk ‘m’ of No 37 Teslim Street, Bariga reported at Sabo Police Station that, two men namely Tobi Onileowo ‘m’ 26year old of Ilupeju and Olakunle Ayo ‘m’ 25years old of Igbogbo, Ikorodu shot him with a gun in an attempt to snatch his motorcycle. A team of Police Officers led by the Divisional Police Officer Sabo, CSP Chike Ibe swung into action. The suspects engaged the team in a gun battle but were subdued. Tobi Onileowo was arrested while Olakunle Ayo was fatally injured. One Double Barrel pistol with two expanded cartridges and one live cartridge were recovered from the suspects. Investigation is ongoing.
  4. Arrest of three traffic Robbery suspects and recovery of Firearms.
    On 8th June 2019 at about 12.30am, surveillance patrol team from Shomolu Pedro Police Station arrested three traffic robbery suspects at Anthony Oke area, namely: Ayomide Olamipo ‘m’ 21yrs, Ogundiran Timileyin ‘m’ 22yrs and Blessing Ndubusi ‘f’ 16yrs. One locally made pistol, one sharp knife and expended Ak 47 Bullet were recovered from the suspects. They all confessed to be responsible for traffic robberies along Shomolu and environ. Investigation is ongoing, suspects will be charged to Court.
  5. Sixteen cultists were arrested and arms recovered
    On 6th June, 2019 at about 11.00pm Ikorodu Police Station received a distress call that members of two rival cult groups, Aye and Eiye confraternity clashed at Ikorodu. During the clash, one Sodiq Adewale ‘m’ 28years old was killed while one Tayo Ogini ‘m’ 28years old was injured. A team of Policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer Ikorodu, SP Babalola Sarafa was promptly drafted to the scene. Sixteen Suspects were arrested. They are: Adewale Afisi ‘m’, Adewale Rufai ‘m’, Seun Balogun ‘m’, Sunday Vincent ‘m’, Ige Olalekan ‘m’, Kolawole Gbenga ‘m’, Olarewaju Ibrahim ‘m’, Obi Joshua ‘m’, Adetunji Ojo ‘m’, Idowu Olarewaju ‘m’, Pelumi Dada ‘m’, Tijani Alabi ‘m’, Taiwo Adejowo ‘m’, Yinka Adebayo ‘m’, Ekele Merit ‘m’ and Muyideen Saliu ‘m.’ One short Gun, Cutlasses, stolen Phones and various Charms were recovered from them. Investigation is ongoing, suspects will be charged to Court.
