Former Minister of Police Affairs during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Ibrahim Yakubu Lame, is dead, and has since been buried in Abuja according to Islamic rites.
Lame, who aspired to be the Governor of Bauchi under under the umbrella of the ruling APC, according to information, died in the early hours of Sunday.
Reports monitored in Bauchi have it that the late Ibrahim Yakubu Lame passed on at exactly 4:10 am Sunday morning at a Turkish Hospital, Abuja, where he had been on admission for some weeks now.
According to one of his his cousins, Babayo Lame, late Dr. Ibrahim Lame died and left his behind one wife and five children, among whom is the Managing Director, Fariya Foundation Investment Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim (Baba).
Babayo Lame who said Dr. Ibrahim Lame died after a protracted illness having suffered partial stroke and complications, lamented that, the entire family had lost not only a brother and son but a mentor, who led by example, adding that Ibrahim Lame was “an icon, and a prominent personality to Bauchi State and Bauchi Emirate Council.
He also confirmed that the burial of late Dr Ibrahim Yakubu Lame was held in Abuja, according to the Islamic rites at about by 10:00 am on Sunday.
Late Dr. Ibrahim Yakubu Lame was a former Senator, who represented Bauchi South Senatorial District, Special Adviser on Drugs and Financial Crimes during the Olusegun Obasanjo-led PDP administration before he was appointed as the Minister of Police Affairs, and a former Bauchi State APC governorship aspirant in 2015 and 2019 and a Bauchi Emirate traditional title holder of Santurakin Bauchi.
Reacting to the his death, Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar condoled with the immediate family and people of Bauchi State over the death of a one time Minister of Police Affairs, Dr Ibrahim Lame.
The Governor, who attended the funeral prayer for the deceased in Abuja, and prayed Allah to grant him eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss, said that, “I was in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with Dr Ibrahim Yakubu Lame, and had had opportunity of working with him. We miss Dr Lame and will remember him for expressing his views on matters of nation building. May Allah forgive his shortcomings.”
