Yesterday was eventful and historic for the people of Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, as Yobe State Governor-elect, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, 50 House of Representatives members-elect, the Dujima Adamawa- Alhaji Musa Halilu and other prominent traditional rulers and personalities stormed Iseyin for the official commissioning of Hon. Shina Abiola Peller’s constituency office.
The multi-million naira edifice , located around Oju Baba area in Iseyin local government area of Oyo State, also doubles ad the Shina Ayo Empowerment Program (SAEP) Head Office.
The event, which witnessed the presence of House of Representatives members-elect from all parts of the country, traditional rulers from Oke-Ogun, including Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdulganiy Adekunle Salaudeen, technocrats, leaders of trade organizations, is unprecedented as Shina Peller commissioned a constituency office before his inauguration as a member of House of Representatives.
The Yobe State Governor-elect, Alhaji Buni, who is also presently the National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), described the event as historic, adding that it is an indication that the people of Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency have made the right decisions by voting in Shina Peller as their representative.
Similarly, some of the House of Representatives members-elect from Oyo, Lagos, Yobe, Adamawa, Anambra, Imo, Ekiti, Ogun, Kebbi, Kaduna, Osun, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Benue, Nassarawa, Kwara, Zamfara, who spoke to journalists at the event, described Shina Peller as a colleague that is worth associating with, especially in the 9th Assembly.
In his speech, Shina Peller appreciated his constituents for the confidence reposed in him and reassured them of purposeful representation that will bring about an enabling environment for his people and businesses to thrive.
Explaining the rationale behind the commissioning of the constituency/Shina Ayo Empowerment Program (SAEP) office even before being inaugurated into office, Hon Peller said, “We are gearing up to start work in earnest as I cannot wait to bring dividends of democracy to my people. We are prepared and set to hit the ground running.”
Similarly, Shina Peller explained that the office will function mainly as an information gathering base where SAEP coordinators will be on ground daily to interact with the people, listen to their problems, document them and then pass the information to him through the structure he has put in place.
Shina Peller ended his speech by reassuring the people that his constituency will be a reference point for others to emulate. “I remain committed to the cause to make Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency a model that can be replicated as a formula for success across all other constituencies in the country. This is my mission, and it is accomplishable especially with your cooperation,” he said.
Following the commissioning of the office, people gathered in their large numbers at the Iseyin District Grammar School (IDGS), Iseyin for the Shina Ayo 2nd annual Ramadan lecture with the theme: Uniting for the right purpose, with Sheik Sulaimon Faruq Onikijipa as the guest lecturer.
