I have no social media accounts, Kingsley Kuku dissociates self from social media accounts making monetary demands from public
Former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta affairs, Hon Kingsley Kuku has dissociated himself from social media accounts purportedly created in his name.
Kuku in a statement on Wednesday particularly disclaimed a Facebook account in his name making monetary demands from members of the public.
He described the account as fake and said it is the handiwork of fraudsters trying to dupe innocent citizens.
He urged the public to ignore whatever demands or information coming from such accounts, saying he has never had a social media account.
The statement read:
“My attention has been drawn to the existence of a Facebook page created in my name purportedly asking members of the public to make financial donations to a particular project.
“I wish to emphatically state to the general public and the social media community that I have no Facebook account neither do I operate any account on any of the social media platforms.
“The social media accounts bearing my name and photograph, soliciting for funds from the public is fake and it is aimed at defrauding members of the public.
“I hereby advise members of the social media community and the general public to be wary of the fake accounts and discountenance whatever message or request from the accounts. I urge the public to report activities of the accounts to the law enforcement agencies as well as the safety and security unit of the social media platforms so that the accounts could be blocked from further engaging in fraudulent activities.”
